Gertrude Yurasek (Kovach) - Class Of 1941

RIP  March 28, 2016

Gertrude Kovach, 92, of Hellertown, died on Monday, March 28, 2016. Born in Bethlehem on December 1, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Fesko) Yurasek. She was the wife of the late John Kovach who died in 1996; they were married 49 years. Gertrude graduated from the Bethlehem Business College in 1942. She worked 10 years in the Transcribing Dept. at the Bethlehem Steel and also attended the Bethlehem School of Practical Nursing in 1962. She was a bowler, gardener and member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Hellertown, where she sang in the choir, cooked and worked their thrift shop. She was also a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols. Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Jack, and Jim & wife Debbie; granddaughters, Lauren, Rachel, and Madyson. She was preceded in death by her son, Gerald; sisters, Irene Vasko, Anna Yurasek, Mary Ihle, Sophie Krise, and Katherine Tomko. Services: Visitation will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, on Friday, April 1, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. A 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1408 Easton Rd., Hellertown, 18055.
