PATRICIA A. SOUTHALL NICHOLS

Township auditor had varied interests

Patricia A. Nichols, age 68, of 1001 B Buckhorn Road, Bloomsburg, was stricken ill at her home and pronounced dead on arrival at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, at 3:24 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2007.

Born in Millville on Dec. 19, 1938, she was a daughter of Belva (Edwards) Southall, Millville, and the late Dr. Oliver S. Southall, M.D. She was a 1957 graduate of St. Cyril’s Academy, Danville, and resided in Madison Township since 1958.

Pat was employed by Girton Sales Co., Millville, during the 1970’s; as a bookkeeper for Nichols Farm Equipment from 1968-1979 and by her daughter, Rhonda Stitz, Accounting Service, from 1992-2004. She and her late husband also sub-divided and developed property.

Active in local politics, she served as a Madison Township assessor from 1998-2004, as a township auditor since 2004, and was the Democratic Committee Woman for Madison Township for many years.

Pat was a social member of the Danville Moose and the Millville American Legion Post.

She enjoyed dancing, eating out, trading stocks on her computer, her cats, lounging by the pool, bowling, snowmobiling and attending granddaughter Kamryn’s activities.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years William D. Nichols, on Sept. 6, 2005 and by a granddaughter, Brooke N. Stitz, on July 18, 1996.

Surviving are a daughter, Rhonda K., wife of Charles J. Stitz, Jr., and a granddaughter, Kamryn N. Stitz all at home and a special friend, Blaine Kindt, Millville.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Interment will be in Dutch Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Monday.
