Kathleen “Kate” Mader, 69, Danville

DANVILLE — Kathleen “Kate” Mader, 69, of New Mexico, formerly of Danville, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at her daughter’s residence in Lebanon.

She was born Sept. 10, 1943, in Newark, N.J., a daughter of Olga (Pinky) Stanko, of Danville, and the late John J. Stanko Jr. In December of 1961, she married Roy Michael Mader and had two children, LTC Lynne and her husband Larry Ciancio, of Colorado, and Johnna and her husband, Bryan Bord, of Lebanon.

Kate was employed as an elementary school teacher for more than 22 years for the Rio Rancho Elementary School District. Her work was truly her life. She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, coached basketball, was an instructor in the Young Astronauts Club, volunteered for the art and music programs and took many kids under her wing over the years. Kathleen was known for her sharp sense of humor and was even a clown school graduate. After retiring from her teaching career, she worked full time for the ARCA group home.

She was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Convent Church in New Mexico.

In addition to her mother and children, she is survived by five grandchildren, 1st Lt. Jeremy Fox, Lauren Ciancio, Brandon Bord, Nicholas Ciancio and Jadyn Bord; and one sister, Sharon Stanko, of Danville.

Arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date.
