Sr. Noel (Anna) Stasko, Ss. C. M. - Class Of 1947

Sister M. Noel (Anna Stasko) died on October 20 at Emmanuel Center, Danville. Sister was born in Perth Amboy, NJ, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Mucha) Stasko on April 16, 1929. She attended Holy Trinity School in Perth Amboy and graduated from St. Cyril Academy, Danville, PA, in 1947. She entered the Congregations of the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Danville on September 8, 1947, and was received as a novice on August 11, 1948 and professed on August 10, 1950. Sister Noel attended Marywood University, Scranton where she received a B. S. in Education and an M. S. in Library Science. Sister Noel taught Grades 1-8 in schools in Illinois, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She served as principal and superior during her four years in Hazleton and 6 years in Wilkes-Barre where for fifteen years she served as principal. In 2001, Sister Noel became the St. Methodius Director of Special Projects in Danville, a post she held until 2012 when she took up residence at Maria Hall and engaged in the Ministry of Prayer and Hospitality. In 2020, she took up residence at Emmanuel Center. Sister Noel is survived by her nieces, Mrs. Cynthia Thomas and Mrs. Rosemary Lacko. A Committal Service held for family and friends is scheduled for Monday, October 26, at 2 p.m. on the grounds of Villa Sacred Heart, Danville. Masks and social distancing are required. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date.
