Obituary

 

Anselma J. “Sally” Thielen, age 81, of Ansonia entered into rest on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Sally was the devoted wife of the late William A. Thielen. She was born in Bridgeport on April 6, 1940, daughter of the late Ansel and Anne (Mikulka) Ambrosini and was an Ansonia resident since 1999. Sally received her bachelor’s degree from Sacred Heart University in Media Studies in 1977. She was an assistant pastor at Beth-El Community Church from 1988 – 2002.

Sally lived a deeply spiritual life and was passionately devoted to her family and to her strong faith in God. She was a warm and loving mother to her four sons, dedicated to providing them with a home full of laughter, music and creativity grounded in spirituality. She adored her grandchildren and surrounded herself with pictures of them throughout her home. Sally’s kind smile and cheerful demeanor brightened any room she was in, and she was always ready with a comforting word to make you feel at ease, welcome and loved.

Sally was the beloved mother of Anthony (Laura) Guzzi, John Guzzi, Christopher Guzzi and Michael (Pasqua) Guzzi, sister of Ruth Majoros and loving grandmother of Amanda Guzzi, River Guzzi and Dana Guzzi-Bartholomew. Sally was also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dolores Ambrosini and Nadia Tavella.

On Thursday, friends may greet the family from 9:30 - 11:00 AM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the parlor. Masks are required in the funeral home. A burial ceremony will follow the funeral service.
