Clare Grinvalsky - Class Of 1980

Clare Grinvalsky, age 56, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019 at her home in Eastpointe. She was born on November 6, 1962 in Stevens Point Wisconsin to Dr. Henry T. and Margaret (nee Palker) Grinvalsky. Clare grew up in Queens, NY and was a 1980 graduate of St. Cyril Academy in Danville, PA. An avid dog lover, Clare received her diploma from The Master School of Dog Grooming in Redford, MI. She was also a skilled dog trainer and show handler.

An accomplished musician, Clare’s beautiful voice resonated with her guitar playing and as a recorded songwriter. From high school to young adulthood, she participated in many musical groups for church services.

While braving Multiple Sclerosis for over 25 years, Clare maintained her creativity authoring poems and short stories that gave people insight into the unique, unexpected problems a person with disabilities experiences. She was an inspiration and mentor to many, and despite the debilitating disease, Clare always displayed her beautiful smile, a great sense of humor and her love for God.

Loving sister of Dr. Henry Jr. (Patricia) of New Richmond, OH; Peggy of Minocqua, WI; Vincent of Eastpointe, MI; Paul of San Diego, CA; Mark (Sue) of St. Clair Shores, MI; Rose Anne of Longmont, CO and Susie (Becky) of Naples, FL. Companion & Caregiver, Elizabeth "Betty" Wilkes. Sister-in-law, Jane of McFarland, WI. Devoted companion Gizelle, Clare’s dog. 16 nieces and nephews, 21 great-grand nieces and nephews, and 1 great-great grand-niece.

Clare was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Henry and Margaret; and brother, Philip.

Visitation Friday March 15, 2019 from 5-9 PM with a prayer service 7 PM at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held on June 1st at 11:00 am at St. Basil the Great Church in Eastpointe.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Clare's memory are appreciated: Michigan Humane Society, The Capuchin Soup Kitchen, or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
