Rosebelle McKean (Dailey) - Class Of 1946 VIEW PROFILE

Rose Katherine (McKean) Dailey, 83, died July 15, 2011 at the Wyoming Medical Center, Casper, Wyo. after a brief illness.

Rose was born on June 20, 1928 in Danville, Pa., the daughter of Brady C. and Ella E. (Myers) McKean. She was the wife of Dr. Jacob E. Dailey, retired superintendent of schools, Natrona County School District, Casper, Wyo. and former/first superintendent of the Pottsgrove School District. Rose attended St. Joseph's Elementary School and graduated from St. Cyril's Slovak Girls Academy, Danville, where she was first in her class. While at St. Cyril's Academy, she was the first place winner in the national Catholic high school Latin competition. Following high school, Rose attended St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Reading, Pa. and graduated from Community General Hospital School of Nursing, Reading, where she was again first in her class. While rearing her children, she worked as a nurse at the Pottstown Memorial Hospital, North Division, and later was the office nurse of Dr. Jesse Hafer, cardiologist.

In support of her husband's career, Rose resided in numerous communities in Pennsylvania and New York before moving to Casper, Wyo. in 1979.

In her early years, Rose was active in her community by participating in the
Newcomer's Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Nicolaysen Art Museum Auxiliary, the Casper Women's Christian Club, and St. Joseph's Circle. In Reading, she was a long-time Girl Scout troop leader, and in Pottstown she was a member of the North Auxiliary of Pottstown Hospital.

She enjoyed cooking and entertaining in her home. Additionally, Rose was an avid reader and an accomplished needle crafter of knitted, crocheted and cross-stitched works. Many of her crafts were given as gifts, including crocheted caps and blankets donated to newborns at various hospitals in Pottstown, Casper and Mesa, Ariz.

Rose is survived by her husband of 64 years, her daughter Suzanne Dunn of Reno, Nev., her son Jacob (Mary Ann) Dailey of Pottstown; grandchildren, Kristyn (Rob) McDougall of Incline Village, Nev.; Christopher (Mary Jean) Dailey of Oaks; Cherisa Kmetovicz of Boise, Idaho; Matthew Dailey of Pottstown; and Katherine Rose Dailey of Philadelphia; and, three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Our Lady of Fatima, R. C. Church, CY Avenue, Casper, WY 82604 in memory of Rose.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011 at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church. Bustard's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
