Lucy Johnson (Johnson) (1962)

Sister Gerard was a no nonsense kind of person.  She came across strictly by the book, but once you got under her skin she was quite different.  I used to think she tested me  and not just me but many of my classmates we were not the easiest group of students and some of us  liked to act like big shots, all knowing and all wise.  She clearly saw right through that haze of toughness and would call our bluffs time and again.  She could make me stop in my tracts and burst out laughing when I needed redirection as she called it.  When I thought I was being "bad" she would laugh and tell me I was the worst example of defiance she ever came across and then she would just stare at me with her hands on her hips like go ahead show me your best bad self, and I could not keep a straight face with that woman.  We would both end laughing and then she would say, I pray for you lucy, God knows you need it.  And I always answer yes sister and believe me I pray for you too because God knows you need it and the she would say get out of here and I would.  If she had favorites no one knew who they were .  I respected and loved her dearly, she was a great nun and a good teacher.  Rest in peace.....
