Survived By: Her sisters, Rosemarie, Maryann, Dolores, Lillian, Christine, cousin Carol Foytlin, 5 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was a very enthusiastic woman and accomplished much in her life. She owned a pre-school and taught many children over 45 years. She also built and opened a senior citizen home in Cape Coral and helped many people in various ways. Eleanor was loyal to her faith and attended daily mass for many years. She was married to Harold Nelsen who preceded her in death. She definitely left an impact on the world.


Eleanor M. (nee Valenta) Nelsen, 82, of Cape Coral, passed away suddenly Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers.

Born Sept. 3, 1925, in Endicott, N.Y., she was the daughter of Febronia (nee Gerek) and Bous Valenta, now deceased.

She was the beloved wife of Harold Nelsen, now deceased, and was a nursery school teacher for many years.

She is survived by her siblings, Rosemarie Foytlin, the Rev. Stephen Valenta, Thomas Valenta, George Valenta, Mary Ann Hranek, Dolores Cassin, Lillian Valenta, Anthony Valenta, David Valenta, Jerome Valenta and Christine Sams; aunt, Mary Jasper; 44 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Wednesday starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Fuller-Cape Coral Funeral Home-Cremation Service, at 3740 Del Prado Blvd. S. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Andrew Church, at 2628 Del Prado Blvd. S. Entombment at Coral Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in her name to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
