Joan E. Dennen Harner

Salisbury-Joan E. Dennen Harner, 75, of Salisbury, MD and formerly of Williamsport, PA. died on September 14, 2016. She was born Feb.18, 1941, daughter of the late Jerome and E. Grace Dennen, Exchange, PA.

Joan graduated from St. Cyril Academy (1959) in Danville, PA. and Bloomsburg University (1963). Joan spent a lifetime of service to others. She was a Special Education teacher, first with BLaST Intermediate Unit and later, Loyalsock Twp. School District, PA. She volunteered for the United Way and was a 3,000 plus hour volunteer at Divine Providence Hospital. After moving to Salisbury, MD., she spent 4 days a week volunteering between The Joseph House and St. Francis de Sales' Carriage House thrift store. She was also a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brother Tom Dennen, Danville, PA. She is survived by her two sons, David Harner, of Salisbury, Md. and Scott Harner, wife Dawn, and their children Devynn, Trista, Jake and Maxx of Berlin, MD.; a brother, Mark Dennen, wife Susan, of Cape Cod, Mass., nieces Shawna Seger, Danville, PA., Erin Dennen, South Windsor, CT., nephew, Patrick Dennen, wife, Yohana, and their children Thomas and Michael of Middlebury, CT.

A visitation with the family will be held from 2-3PM, Friday, September 23rd at St. Francis de Sales Church, Salisbury, MD. followed by a Mass of Christen Burial from 3-4PM and a reception from 4-6PM. Internment will take place on Sunday, September 25th at 2PM in St. James' Cemetery, (Fox Hollow Road) Exchange, PA.
