In Loving Memory of Ann Louise “Nancy” Cavanaugh (1944–2025)

 

Ann Louise Cavanaugh, lovingly known to her family as Nancy, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at the age of 80. Born in Bloomsburg, PA, she dedicated her life to education, faith, and family. A proud graduate of St. Cyril and Methodius Academy and Bloomsburg State Teachers College, Nancy went on to earn her master’s degree from Shippensburg University.

 

📚 A Life of Service and Leadership

 

Nancy spent 37 years shaping young minds at Big Spring High School in Newville, PA, where she led the History Department and championed public education through her work with NEA and PSEA. Her commitment extended beyond the classroom to her church, First United Presbyterian in Newville, where she served as an Elder and Chairperson of Personnel, and participated in mission work with grace and generosity.

 

🌿 A Heart for Family and Community 

 

Nancy’s love for her family—especially her nieces and nephews—was a cornerstone of her life. She found joy in gardening, traveling, reading, and engaging in thoughtful political discourse. Her warmth and wisdom touched many lives.

 

Surviving family includes her brother, Bob and his wife, Cas-; Nephew, Robert and his son, Robby; Niece, Beth Kushon and her husband, Eric, and their children, Caroline Cole (husband, Jacob and their son, Walker) and Nicholas Kushon; Nephew, Chris and his wife, Toye, and their children Holland and Lowry.

Graveside Service: September 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. St. Joseph’s Cemetery,  Danville, PA Officiated by Pastor Vern Gauthier

 

Memorial Service: September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. First United Presbyterian Church, 111 West Big Spring Avenue, Newville, PA Officiated by Pastor Vern Gauthier

So sorry to learn of Nancy passing.  Hugs to those who loved her.  She  is now enjoying the fruits of what she believe and is at rest.
