Rose M. (Hermanski) Appelman, age 77, of Jefferson St., Bloomsburg, died early Wednesday morning August 14, 2024 at Emmanuel Center For Nursing in Danville, where she had been a patient.
Born in Bloomsburg on November 11, 1946 she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Tobias) Hermanski. She spent her early life in the Catawissa area and resided in Bloomsburg since 1997. She was a 1964 graduate of the former St. Cyril Academy in Danville.
Rose was employed as a clerk in the Columbia County Tax Assessors office for 31 years. She also worked part-time at Fashion Bug for 21 years.
She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church. She attended Bloomsburg Baptist Church and in later years she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.
Rose was known for the beautiful flowers she planted outside of her home each year and also for the way she decorated her home for the various seasons and holidays.
She is survived by her husband, James H. Appelman III, with whom she observed their 27th wedding anniversary on July 5, 2024. Also surviving is a son, Jeffrey Brophy, and his wife Christa, of Catawissa; daughter, Kelly Seidel, of Wake Forest, North Carolina; grandson, Tyler Brophy, of Anderson, Indiana; granddaughter, Reese Brophy, of Catawissa; great-granddaughter, Paisley Layne Brophy, of Anderson, Indiana; sister, Shirley, wife of Henry Oravitz, of Frackville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Richard J. Mowery, officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Elysburg with Pastor Thomas Anger officiating. Viewing at the church on Tuesday from 9-10:30 a.m.
