Helen Ann Kirk

CROWN POINT, IN - Helen Ann Kirk of Crown Point IN was born on August 3, 1931 to John and Anna Klich.

Helen passed away peacefully with her family at her side on December 18, 2023, at the age of 92.

Helen attended SS. Cyril and Methodius High School in Danville, PA.

In 1954, Helen married Donald C. Kirk and they were married 54 years until his passing in 2008.

Helen worked as a bookkeeper in the Lake County Clerk's office, Accessor's office, and Indiana Furniture. Helen and Don thoroughly enjoyed attending their children's and grandchildren's sporting events and school activities.

In retirement, Helen and Don enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, visiting national parks and historic places.

Helen's Catholic faith was very important to her which she shared and passed down to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen and family were one of the founding members of St. Matthias Church. Helen remained active in the rosary sodality, bake sale, and various other ministries in the community.

Deeply rooted in her Slovak heritage, Helen continued traditions handed down from her parents. Helen enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren words in the Slovak language.

Those traditions also included her superb cooking; making bread, rosky, nutroll, strudel, cake with her famous icing and lasagna to only name a few.

Family gatherings were very important and created lasting memories for Helen and her family for years to come. Helen was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who always took the time to frequently visit her, playing cards, bingo and bringing her "grand dogs" to visit.

Her legacy will continue to live on in her family.

We all will dearly and deeply miss you, Mom, Grandma and Gigi.

Helen is survived by children: Bebe (Steve) Sims, Larry(Kathy) Kirk, Bob Kirk, Kathy Tomko, Jim (Debbie) Kirk; grandchildren: Eric(Annmarie) Sims, Sara (Mike) Kowalsky, Michael and Laura Kirk, Brandon (fiancé Ashley Hamady) Tomko, Benjamin (Morgan) Tomko and Kyle Kirk; great-grandchildren: Connor and Taylor Kowalsky, Chase and Jacob Sims.

Helen is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by husband Donald; parents John and Anna Klich; parents-in-law: Edward and Beatrice Kirk; sister and brother-in-law, Mary (John) Levenda; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward (Sallee) Kirk; nephew, Ken Kirk; and niece, Ann Sue Rich
